Roanna White is a senior teacher, parent, and solo traveller who brings a personal lens to some of the most complex conversations in education, mental health, and women’s wellbeing. After two decades across HR and education, she now leads a department at one of Queensland’s largest schools, where she’s seen first-hand the toll that disconnection, burnout, and unspoken grief can take—on both students and staff. She's currently completing a Master’s in TESOL, with a particular interest in how AI tools might support international students navigating the Australian school system.
Outside the classroom, Roanna’s lived experience has shaped the direction of her work. Following a difficult divorce, she faced stalking, resurfaced trauma, and the slow grief of becoming an empty-nester. Rather than shut down, she sought out ways to understand herself more deeply, through somatic therapy, solo travel, and rebuilding her identity beyond the roles she’d always occupied.
These experiences now inform her next chapter: building a business that tackles loneliness in a direct, human way. The heart of the idea is simple—connection matters, and it should be easier to ask for it.
Roanna joins podcast conversations with openness and speaks about the emotional weight of caregiving, the realities of healing after trauma, the freedoms and fears of travelling alone, and what it means to start again later in life. Her perspective is shaped by what she’s lived, not just what she’s studied, and that’s what listeners connect with.
